Proof of concept
Proof of concept is a physical realization of ideation to demonstrate its feasibility of manufacturing, aesthetics, feel, etc. Its purpose is to verify whether concept or theory is having potential of being used to develop as commercial product.

There are various methods to verify the concept like,
project manage
  • Custom machining
  • Rapid Prototyping
    • SLA
    • 3D Printing
    • Stereo lithography (SLA)
    • Selective laser sintering (SLS)
    • Fused deposition modelling (FDM)
    • Cast urethane moulding
    • Composites

There are many benefits for which prototypes are used, for example:

  • Concept modelling – The freedom of multiple design iterations without cost penalty
  • Form, fit and function testing – Rapid prototypes help engineers and designers determine form, fit and function before investing in tooling
  • Fine feature detail – Using PolyJet technology small rapid prototypes can also be built which require fine feature detail, such as models and toys
  • Design verification –To test new products in the market and ensure that design is right before it goes for mass production
